Hi Everybody,
This heat just won't quit. It was so hot Tybee was not very crowded for a Sunday in July. People just stayed home...but the beach wasn't bad, a real nice sea breeze was blowing all afternoon.
Not going to quit talking about no smoking on the beach. Already beaches in South Carolina, California, Maine, New Jersey and many more have already adopted a no smoking policy. It's not the smoking..it's the butts, left on the beach..that's the problem. A buzz has already begun on Tybee about this. Let's see if we can keep it going.
Congratulations to all the candidates whose races are over. Great job on getting those signs down quickly. A big thank you for that.
Mad Men is back and Curb isn't far behind..life is good.
I don't mind paying taxes. Whatever we pay, it's worth it to live in the USA. The only tax I don't like is the estate tax, commonly called the "death tax." 2010 is the year to go. Due to some strange legislation there is 0 estate tax this year. Yankee owner George Steinbrenner recently died and his estate saved a 1/2 billion dollars. Now next year it goes to 55% for everything over one million dollars. That million includes your residence and your business. Lot's of folks will fall into this category. We pay taxes all during our lifetimes. Why do we have to pay again after we're gone? So often heirs have to sell homes and businesses just to pay the "death tax". Very unfair. Get in touch with your Representatives and let them know what you think.
In the meantime....have a great week,

Hi Everybody,

Well it took us all four days but we've finally figured out how to pronounce British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen's name..it's Woosthazen..but he's just Louie to us!! What a performance.....and then there's Tiger. We're beginning to wonder with all the mental and physical trauma is he an "old" 34? Who would have thought he'd be 0 for 3 on 3 major courses that were made for him.
Had to go to Atlanta last week. First time since the 1996 Olympics I've been there..that's almost 15 years. And after just one day in that traffic I wouldn't mind if it was another 15 years before I go back.
If you're a non smoker, as most of us are, you have to be pleased by the pro active stance taken by Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson. The Mayor is trying to ban smoking in all public places. Maybe Tybee can take a cue and ban smoking on it's beaches. It's not the smoking that's the problem it's the smokers who insist on using the beach as an ashtray. Or even worse the one's who use the ocean as a spitoon for their butts. Many California beaches have adopted a no smoking policy. What about Tybee? What do you think?
Have a great week,

So the LeBronathon is finally over. It was probably the most tedious hour of TV since Geraldo tried to open Al Capone's safe.
LeBron here's the deal..if you think there's a chance you're not going back to Cleveland don't do it on live TV to make things worse. And heads up to Jim Gray...yo, we don't care if LBJ is still biting his nails. You asked 16 questions before the only one we cared about.
Now the only thing making LeBron look good is Cav's owner Dan Gilbert. His open letter saying the Cav's would win a title before the so called King in Miami and on and on and on actually made LeBron a bit of a sympathic figure.
If any Tybee officials are reading this, how about some signs letting folks know that Sand Dollars are endagnered and need to be left on the beach. You say there's not a budget for it...okay use a freakin' magic marker..but get some signs up. We've all noticed that Sand Dollars are disappearing at an alarming rate, let's do something about it now. And while we're at it can we PLEASE turn those showers back on. How would you like to drive back to Atlanta or where ever without being able to rinse off. With all the additional parking revenue let's figure out a way to get this done.
Summer's in full swing but back to school isn't that far away. Have you seen the Public school schedules? Some kids have to be at school as early as 7:30. There's no way that young people are able to learn at that time of the morning. Let's get real and have school start at a reasonable time.
Tell me what you think and have a great week...
