Hello Everybody,
St. Pat's in Savanah was perfect. Great weather with not a cloud in the sky until our visitors were heading home on Sunday. Lot's of those visitors and locals were at the beach on Saturday. Parking lots, on street parking, all full..it was a big day. And that meant the earliest start ever for the Q105.3 Tan tone...zap...zap...zap. Lot's of wide eyed stares by folks seeing the beach erosion for the first time this year. Lot's of deep cuts on different beach streets.
So everybody forgot about Libya and Col. Gadhafi due to the tragedy in Japan. No more...it's on. And hopefully not for long. With 3 different operations, our military is stretched thin.
Now that the St. Pat's excitement is over it's time for the Savannah Music Festival. What a wonderful line up this year. In just a short time the SMF has become a World Class event. Rob Gibson and his staff do a spectacular job.
Let's talk about Jon Bongiovi lead guy of Bon Jovi. He recently said that Steve Jobs has deprived the younger generation of experiencing music as it should be experienced. They don't get a chance to hold those overpriced CD's. They can download all the music they want. They don't have to buy complete CD's with lot's of fill material. They can download the individual cuts they want. Anyway Jon do you think we should go back to the horse and buggy days, phones on the wall, getting up to change the TV channel's? Jon we know you're hurting because you're not selling CD's but you're still selling out shows at an average ticket of $100...we won't be holding any benefits for you.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions. Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond..ok!! But some of the others, Darlene Love, Dr. John, Leon Russell, Tom Waits...marginal at best. Especially when you consider some of the acts NOT in the Hall. Here's a partial list...Heart, Boston, Rush, Hall&Oates, Eddie Money, Joe Cocker, Chicago, ELO, Journey, Yes, Ringo Starr and so many more. Who's doing the voting here?
Have a great week,
Jerry
