Hello Everybody,

Been gone awhile. In Ireland for my son Jeff's wedding to Sheila, a lovely...lovely in all ways, Irish lass. They met in NYC where they both had been living..now they're moving to Chicago..but that's a story for another time.

Irish weddings...not just a one day affair. This one was two days 'til 5am both mornings. I couldn't hang.

It was a Catholic/Jewish wedding with Savannah's Rabbi Arnold Belzer handling the Jewish side. The wedding was in a beautiful Church in County Kerry on the Ring of Kerry.

Here in Savannah we have a strong link to the Emerald Isle but this was my first visit and hopefully it won't be my last. Spectacular scenery and the nicest people you would ever want to meet. We started our trip in Dublin where we got to see President Obama's speech. That "Yes We Can" in Gaelic got the crowd going. The Irish love America and are especially fond of this President.

You know the WRHQ corporate name is Thoroughbred Communciations....Horse Racing has been a love my whole life. Had a chance to visit an Irish race track...The Curragh. In Ireland racing is a big deal every day not like here where it's just Derby Day. It was a great experince....even won a few Euros.

Another thing I like about Ireland...the newspapers.  are still relevant over there. In a country of less than 5 million...there are 10 daily newspapers. It is a very literary society.

More on the Ireland trip next time....

NBA finals tonight....Miami/Dallas. Saw those two play over Christmas while in South Fla. Dallas won...don't think that will be the case this time.

So Tiger down to #13 in the World Golf Rankings, but just as big a story, the demise, at least for now of American golf. Only one player in the top 6 is an American. Phil at number 4. Is golf heading the way of tennis as far as lack of any kind of American success?

Never been a fan of four lanes for the Tybee road. However I bet anyone stuck in traffic trying to get home over the Holiday would disagree with that sentiment.

Let me know what you're thinking and thanks for reading this and listening to the Q!!

Hello Everybody,

Dan Uggla starting to pay dividends for the Braves. Big game for the new Atlanta second baseman yesterday to lead to the win over the Phillies.

Tybee's Beach Bum Parade is Friday. Let's hope it's a safe one for all concerned.

Carlos Santana expressed his displeasure with Georgia's new immigration law. He picked the Braves Civil Rights game to voice his concerns.

Is there a new leader of the pack in Tennis other than Roger or Rafa? We're talking about Novak Djokovic who beat Nadal again yesterday. It was his 37th straight win to start  2011.

So Tiger withdrew after only 9 holes of the TPC. What's going on here? Emotional and physical problems combining to turn his world upside down. You remember Tiger being treated by a Canadian doctor now indicted for dispensing HGH. You put that together with all of Tiger's injuries of late...knee, achilles, neck and more. And you recall that this is a guy who won a US Open on a broken leg and now lesser injuries cause him to withdraw. In all Sports PED's don't necessarily enable you to hit the fall longer but they do enable you to recover more quickly from injuries or just ordinary aches and pains. We see now in Baseball since steroid testing the 35 and up players for the most part are no longer performing. Is that what's going on with Tiger? The whispers have been there in the past but now people are talking about it..

Let me know what you think and have a great week...

Jerry

Hello Everybody,

It's been an historic week and the world is a better place now. The only down side to the killing of Bin Laden is we've forgotten about the devestation in the South especially Alabama. What destruction and those people need our help. Whether it's a Red Cross contribution or dropping off something at one of the many spots around Savannah let's all try and do something.

An NBA shocker the Lakers are out... getting swept by Dallas. Who saw that coming? Not the way Phil Jackson wanted to go out. Especially considering the the classless thug life acts of Lamar Odum and Andrew Bynum. You have to think after that performance their Laker days are numbered.

How about Animal Kingdom? Another long shot Kentucky Derby winner. Didn't pick him on top but I did have him in my tri and it was a BIG one. My top selection, Nehro, finished second. Now it's on to Baltimore for the Preakness and will this be the year the Triple Crown drought will end? 1978 and Affirmed are long ago and far away.

Another miserable traffic day for folks trying to get to and from Tybee on Saturday. An accident on the Lazaretto Creek Bridge stopped everything for more than 3 hours. I'm not in favor of four laning Highway 80 but the Lazaretto Creek and Bull River Bridges have to be expanded sooner rather than later.

All the Sports bloggers had a field day last week with Derek Jeter. He's done they said. Too old. All he hits are ground balls. So yesterday he goes 4 for 6 with two Home Runs. Go figure.
