What a week...Goodnight Irene...we were lucky..some other people...not so much.

One good thing from Irene..the nice waves at Tybee and it looks like the Jellyfish are gone for this season.

So the Libyan rebels are not going to deport the Lockerbie Bomber...and these are the people we've been supporting. And still no civilian government in Egypt....the Arab spring is slow to develop.

Are we ready for some football? Yes we are!!College Football underway this Thursday. And then Saturday night in Atlanta...The 'Dawgs vs. Boise State. Georgia a 3 point underdog.

Hear good things about the new Woody Allen movie, "Midnight in Paris"...finally playing here this week.

The Braves looking more than good in the NL Wild Card race. The bullpen trio at the back end..O'Flahrety, Ventners and Kimbrall may be the best EVER. At least for the first 5 months of this season no group has ever done it better than these three.

Six candidates in the Savannah Mayoral race and they were all together in one room at last week's Buy Local meeting. This will be a competitive race... As will the Tybee Mayoral contest.....the little Island has three candidates...the incumbent Jason Beulterman,Council member Shirley Sessions and Dick Smith a former Council member. Jason has the early sign lead but it's still early.

Hope everybody is well this week...

NFL regular season is close and that can mean only one thing....The Brett Favre talk is underway. Will he or won't he ? The latest talk is about the Colts. Peyton Manning's neck is still hurting. And wouldn't that be poetic justice? Manning the player closest to Favre's consecutive game streak might be replaced by Favre. This probably won't happen but it certainly keeps things interesting.

So during this whole debt crisis when Congress basically held the country hostage and subsequently caused the market to tank 15% ..how many of these folks....Democrat, Republican, Independent, Tea Party..whatever the affiliation..How many came forward and said let's cut "our" benefits? Let's put "our" Health Care , "our" over the top perks, pensions and all the rest on the table and let's set an example...Ha!! Fat chance of that happening. They do not care about "us"...only about "them"...but we figured that out already didn't we?

Watching "Curb Your Enthusiasm" as I write this....Larry David is a freakin' genius. It makes you realize who the creative genius behind Seinfeld was and folks it wasn't Jerry...and if you don't believe that watch the Marraige Ref for just 5 minutes...funny it's not...

Hi Everybody,

Have we seen a bigger Golf non event than this weekends PGA? Love him or hate him..If Tiger's not there do we care? It's like watching a car wreck..our eyes can't avoid it. Maybe if Tiger or Phil had been in contention...but the way things were this was a non starter.

Yesterday afternoon's storm was like Summer's past. This one cleared out the beach real fast. It's the kind of storm we haven't seen much of this season.

The Savannah Morning News has received much heat for the puff piece on City Manager Rochelle Small-Toney on the front page of last Sunday's paper. BUT let's keep in mind the SMN has been on top of this story from the beginning and has cut the City or Ms. Toney no slack..so maybe let's cut them a little slack on this.

We lost a great one over the weekend...legendary Braves announcer Ernie Johnson, Sr. passed away at 87 after a long illness. Someone said "when you listened to Ernie doing a Braves game... it was as if Summer would never end."

Did you watch the first Republican Presidental debate in Iowa last week? Folks, it's going to be a long 15 months.

Cursive? Another word the next generation will say...huh?

And get the motion sickness remedies ready as we get set for another Wall St. week....
