Did you see the Olympic coverage on Wednesday night.  What a great day for the U.S.A.  Shani Davis won the gold in the men 1000m speed skating, Lindsey Vonn overcomes injury to win the gold in the women's downhill, ans Shaun White, the "Flying Tomato", was awesome in winning the gold in the halfpipe.  Shaun is unbelievable on a snow board.  He flew about 5 feet higher than anyone else and does some crazy tricks!  Way to go U.S.A.

I know there are a lot of people who don't care for the Winter Olympics.  Personally, I prefer them to the Summer Games.  I love anything that has to do with snow boarding, downhill skiing, and, as odd as this sounds, I love curling.  It's more like chess than a sport, but I enjoy watching it.  Maybe, one day, I'll get to try it myself.

Well we've come to another Super Bowl...Colts vs. Saints.

As you may know, I am a Vikings fan and have been all my life.  What a disappointment last nights game turned out to be.  Turnovers killed them!  The Saints didn't beat the Vikings...The Vikings beat the Vikings!  And what a bad call in overtime on the pass interference.  That pass was totally uncatchable!  But many mor emistakes by the Vikings did them in.  Now Viking fans will be in limbo about who will be the QB for next year until August!  Brett Favre had a tremendous season but the Saints defense put a hurting on him...we'll see if he is done now!

Now it's NASCAR season...the Daytona 500 is February 14th and NASCAR has made some rule changes that will help make the action more exciting!  Bump drafting is back and the restrictor plates are larger, meaning more horsepower!  Hope it does the trick!  I don't think it will do away with "the big one" but the racing will be closer to the way it was intended!

Oh and P-Hutt...Have a nice day!

It's the Savannah Tire Hockey Classic week!  I love this week!  Part of this is I love hockey, and then it's the social event of the winter!  I always see alot of people at the Hockey Classic, and with some of them, that is the only time I see them all year.

Plus, I always love getting onto the ice to host Slap Shots for Cash!  Someone gets to get onto the ice and take a shot at one of the goals to win cash!  And there could be the possibility of me making a fool of myself by falling on the ice.  I will be hosting Slap Shots for Cash during the Georgia vs. Florida game on Friday night, so be sure to come out and see if I take a spill!

So another holiday season has come and gone and I hope that everyone survived!

That also means another bowl season is over...almost.  Glad the dawgs pulled off the win over Texas A&M, too bad Georgia Tech couldn't do it against Iowa...guess they studied Tech well in their off time.  Now one game left...ROLL TIDE!  Make it another SEC National Champ and prove what is the best conference in college football.

And it's now time for the NFL playoffs...the trendy pick is the Cowboys and Chargers in the Super Bowl...I'm going with the Charger and Vikings.  If you ever read my blogs, you know that I am a Vikings fan, and I still find it hard to cheer on Brett Favre, but if he can win a Super Bowl in Minnesota, I think I could be a fan of his!

Just a few things to throw out there...

There's a couple of shows coming up that, if days off around the holidays work to your advantage, would be awesome to catch.  Next Friday and Saturday, Widespread Panic set up shop at the North Charleston Coliseum.  If you are lucky enough to have the day after Thanksgiving off, It would be worth the trip Charleston...make a weekend of it.

Christmas is on Friday this year and you know that by the time Saturday rolls around, the charm of the good old fashion family Christmas will be wearing off...load your fun cousins into the car and head to Atlanta to see Drivin' n' Cryin'.  They play the Masquerade on Saturday, December 26th.  They are currently on the road in support of their first studio album in 12 years "(Whatever happened to) The Great American Bubble Factory".  This disc rocks!  I have known the guys in band for about 20 years, drove all over the place to go see them in my 20's, and still try to catch them these days.  They hold the distinction of being the loudest show I have ever attended. (Outdoor show at Victorian Village in Macon in the early 90's, so loud that people about 3 miles away could hear it)  Go see these guys, they are still an awesome show!

And now the NASCAR section of my blog...I'm not a fan of Jimmy Johnson...never have been...don't hate him, but just don't like him.  But I have to give him and his team credit, they know what they are doing.  As a friend of mine on facebook said this morning..The Lowe's Team has become the NY Yankee's of NASCAR.  But I will tip my hat on Johnson's Championship...his 4th...IN A ROW!  That is amazing.  Passing Cale Yarborough who won three in a row in the 70's and cathing up to him teammate Jeff Gordon with 4 championships...only The Great Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt have more at 7.  I stll have to say that I don't like the playoff system in place now.

Oh and by the way...my Vikings are 8-1 and have a fairly easy 2nd half schedule, Bengals and Cardinals are the toughest.  I say Bengals-Colts for the AFC Championship and for the NFC, Vikings - Saints.

Oh and Pat...have a nice day.
